Oratunga Cactus Cull – NW Blinman, Flinders Ranges

This trip is a working holiday on ‘Oratunga Station’, about 20 km from Blinman along the Glass Gorge Road. Glass Gorge Road can be accessed either from Blinman or Parachilna.

Terrain: Dirt roads and rough station tracks. . Includes Alpana’s Mt Samuel Track

AccommodationShearer quarters, Station house, camper trailer or caravan

 Meet at: Oratunga Station on Glass Gorge Road, north-west of Blinman. Meet at Oratunga Station on either Saturday or Sunday. Work will commence on Monday, at 9am.

 Notes: Bring all evening entertainment; cordless drill, hats, boots; all personal care products and supplies. There will be a drive mid-week and dinner at Blinman Hotel.

Gini Lee, the owner of Oratunga, will provide a welcome dinner on Sunday night. Bring all other supplies including all food. You are welcome to use the kitchens in the shearer’s quarters and house.

Mobile phones don’t work in Oratunga. Optus phones are okay in Blinman. There is also a public phone which requires a Telstra phone card. Telstra phone signal is good at Wilpena. Fuel is available at Hawker, Angorichina Hostel and Leigh Creek.

Restrictions: No firearms or pets

Cost:  Budget for fuel and supplies
